Topic: Growth

Growth is often considered synonymous with development. However, both these words have different meanings from different perspectives. Especially from the perspective of psychology and education. Undoubtedly, there are important and broad differences between growth and development.

What does Growth mean?

Growth is a term used to refer to physical changes in the human body. Considers the structural changes that occur in a child's body structure over time in terms of mass, height, number, type, position, color, width, weight, and shape.

However, these physical changes take place for a limited period of time and physical growth ceases after maturity. Therefore, it is clear that the physical changes that occur in the human body are called growth.

Development is a term used to refer to the physical and mental growth of a child. It is a much broader term than growth as it encompasses not only physical structural changes but also physical, mental, social, intellectual, moral, linguistic, sexual, and emotional changes in a child.

Development is qualitative and cannot be perceived through the senses which cannot be measured. Not only this, growth itself is considered a part of development. Which makes development a much more comprehensive term than growth.
